Nakashima Azusa joined JunHe in 2024 and is based in the firm’s Beijing office. Prior to joining JunHe, she was a partner in the China Practice Group of a large comprehensive international law firm in Japan and served as the Chief Representative of its Beijing Representative Office. 

Ms. Nakashima has extensive experience in China practice and mainly advises on Japanese companies’ investments in China, mergers and acquisitions in China, corporate matters, labor law and international transactions. As a Japanese lawyer proficient in Chinese and well-versed in China practice, she excels in providing practical risk assessments and balanced solutions based on a deep understanding of clients’ needs and in accordance with relevant laws. Over the past more than 20 years, Ms. Nakashima has provided extensive support to many Japanese enterprises in their development in China. She has also actively participated in academic research on Chinese laws, including co-authoring books such as The Chinese Civil Code and Corporate Legal Affairs — Impacts on Japanese Enterprises and Changes in Transaction Methods and Labor Issues in Entering and Exiting Asian Markets — Labor Laws of Different Countries.

In recent years, Ms. Nakashima has provided legal advice on many Japanese enterprises’ acquisition and joint venture projects in China, M&A transactions involving Chinese affiliates, and the post-acquisition transaction structuring for target companies. The representative deals she has advised on include Orix's acquisition of DHC, Polaris Capital's acquisition of Chuo Kagaku Co., Ltd., and Resonac's public acquisition of Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. Ms. Nakashima was recognized among the Most Active Lawyers released by Nikkei in 2023 for her outstanding performance and good reputation.
