On July 20, 2017, Asian Legal Business (ALB) released the “ALB China 2017 Top 15 Rising Lawyers”. JunHe partner LI, Chenliang was included among those receiving the distinction.
ALB is a top legal magazine under Thompson Reuters and one of the most influential legal media in the world. The aim is to showcase 15 young lawyers from across China under the age of 40 who are quickly rising to prominence in the legal field on the basis of their important achievements, major transactions and cases represented, as well as comments from clients and colleagues.
Mr. Li is a partner of JunHe and the coordinator of the Capital Market group in JunHe’s Shanghai office. He focuses on various restructuring and onshore and offshore IPOs, as well as private equity and venture capital. Mr. Li has assisted Chinese enterprises in onshore and offshore IPOs and bond offerings. He has also represented onshore and offshore listed companies in their outbound investments and major mergers and acquisitions. He has cooperated on a long-term basis with major investment banks active in Asia, including Credit Suisse, UBS, BNP Paribas, DB, CICC, ICBC International, CITIC CLSA and Haitong International, and was invited by SEHK to lead trainings on IPOs in Hong Kong to Chinese enterprises. As the responsible partner, Mr. Li has represented various well-known private equity funds and venture capital funds such as CDH Investments, Goldman Sachs, Banyan Capital, Triton, CVC and Certain Capital on their private equity investments and venture capital investments in China, particularly in industries such as TMT, pharmaceuticals, cinema, education, and food and beverage. He has also led his team in acting as the legal counsel to the top start-ups in industry segmentation on all phases of their private equity financing.
From 2008 to 2010, he worked with O’Melveny & Myers in its Shanghai office as a PRC legal consultant. Over that period, he advised well-known multinational companies, private equity funds and venture capital funds on their merger and acquisition, direct investment, private equity investment and venture capital investment in China.
Mr. Li has a bachelor’s degree from Northwest University of Politics and Law (2001) and a master’s degree from East China University of Political Science and Law (2004). He is active with his alma mater, East China University of Political Science and Law, as a part-time tutor and lecturer on legal practices for postgraduates.
