On April 2, 2025, legal research and analytics firm GCProfiles released its 2025 GCP China 40 under 40 list, recognizing 40 of the most outstanding young lawyers in China. JunHe Partners CHEN, Yan and JIANG, Wenjun (Kelvin) stood out due to their outstanding performance in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and private equity/venture capital, and their deep understanding of their clients’ needs.
Professionalism as the Foundation
Ms. CHEN, Yan is one of JunHe’s new generation partners who excels in business law, is technically proficient and possesses keen commercial acumen. She focuses on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity/venture capital, fund establishment, and investment and financing, and consistently works on the front line of projects to tailor high-quality legal services that best meet her clients’ needs.
Mr. JIANG, Wenjun (Kelvin) has dedicated his 17-year career to capital markets and merger financing, earning a reputation as JunHe’s “frequent flyer”. He led Victory Giant Technology’s acquisition of a 100% stake in MFS Group, which involved tight deadlines, multiple jurisdictions and complex regulatory reporting tasks. Leveraging his solid experience in listed company acquisitions, Mr. Jiang and his team successfully completed the project within the expected timeframe.
Practicing Charity and Social Responsibility
Beyond their professional pursuits, both partners are committed to charity work and social responsibility.
From 2024 to 2025, Ms. CHEN, Yan served as an external instructor for legal courses at Fudan University and the University of Hong Kong, participating in course teaching. She engaged in discussions with the New Horizon Charity Foundation regarding the selection of school donations and projects, providing help and support to children left behind in their hometowns.
Mr. JIANG, Wenjun (Kelvin) is an external mentor at the Law School of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and a special advisor for the Imperial College Alumni Association South China. He is a member of the 11th Committee of the Xuhui District Youth Federation and serves as the Secretary-General of the Legal Community of the District Youth Federation. In 2023, he was awarded the title “Xuhui District Model Worker”.
“Do not let down your talents, do not let down trust” is Ms. Chen’s personal philosophy. As an emerging talent in the industry, she believes that “young lawyers should uphold their original aspirations, have long-term plans, and remain focused on their practice areas. They should also have foresight and wisdom to assess the current situation. Besides having solid legal theoretical foundations, lawyers need to possess a professional legal service mindset. Actively participating in public welfare and giving back to society can help one grow morally and professionally.”
Mr. JIANG, Wenjun (Kelvin) also shared his professional reflections: “As a young lawyer, one must first be passionate about work. Many transactions involve complexities and urgencies, and the workload can be substantial. Passion allows one to maintain a love for the profession amidst high-intensity work. Secondly, young lawyers need to have curious minds. The deals we handle and the industries we operate in are constantly evolving. Only by maintaining curiosity can we keep up with market changes. Lastly, dedication and meticulousness are essential qualities young lawyers need to excel.”
