Mr. Xu Nianzu joined JunHe's Shanghai office in 2018 and focuses on bankruptcy and restructuring. As a lead attorney, he has provided clients with legal services in areas including bankruptcy reorganization, bankruptcy liquidation, compulsory liquidation, voluntary liquidation and debt restructuring.
Mr. Xu has led or participated in projects covering a range of roles, including acting as a bankruptcy administrator, serving as a liquidation committee member in a compulsory liquidation, acting as an advisor to the liquidation committee in a voluntary liquidation, and representing investors in bankruptcy-related investments (including common‑interest debt investments, asset acquisitions and equity acquisitions). He has represented creditors in filing bankruptcy claims, represented financial creditors’ committees in bankruptcy proceedings, represented debtors or shareholders in filing bankruptcy applications and participated in the subsequent bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Xu has engaged in non-performing asset acquisition and disposal, represented debtors or creditors in out‑of‑court debt restructuring and handled many bankruptcy derivative litigations.
As an administrator, Mr. Xu led the reorganization of Rendong Holdings, which became the first approved case after the issuance of the new regulations on listed company reorganizations. He has also handled bankruptcy cases that have been cited in court work reports or selected as model cases for experience sharing.
Prior to his current practice, Mr. Xu was involved in dispute resolution work and gained practical experience in litigation and arbitration. He also has experience in pharmaceutical compliance.
In 2026, Mr. Xu was recognized as a Recommended Lawyer in the Bankruptcy/Restructuring area by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.
Mr. Xu earned his LL.B. from East China University of Political Science and Law in 2015, and his LL.M. (with a focus on bankruptcy law) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2018.
Mr. Xu holds a PRC legal professional qualification certificate and is a member of the All‑China Bar Association and the Shanghai Bar Association.
