Professional Experience

Li Qi focuses his practice on cross-border investments, mergers and acquisitions, financing, capital markets and general corporate matters, with particular emphasis on China–U.S. cross-border transactions.

<span Since the early 1990s, Mr. Li has advised multinational corporations on investments and business operations in China. Over the past decade, he has also advised Chinese enterprises on investments, financing and business operations in the United States. His clients include Fortune Global 500 companies, listed companies, financial institutions, private equity funds and innovative enterprises.

Through decades of cross-border practice, Mr. Li has established longstanding professional relationships with lawyers and other professional advisers across China and the United States. He regularly coordinates lawyers and advisers across jurisdictions and practice areas, helping clients integrate legal resources and implement complex cross-border transactions and business projects.

Mr. Li is admitted to practice in the People's Republic of China, the State of New York and the State of Washington. He has been retained on multiple occasions as an expert witness on PRC law in litigation before U.S. federal and state courts.

Early in his career, Mr. Li was a founding partner of a law firm that later became widely recognized as one of China's leading "Red Circle" firms. He has also remained active in bar associations, legal education and pro bono legal services, and has promoted legal exchanges between China and the United States and the development of younger lawyers.

Mr. Li has been recommended by Chambers, The Legal 500, IFLR1000, China Business Law Journal and Lexology Index. Chambers has recognized him for many years as an Eminent Practitioner and Senior Statesperson, and The Legal 500 has repeatedly named him to its Hall of Fame. In 1999, he was named one of the "Ten Best Lawyers in China" by the Ministry of Justice of the People's Republic of China.

Community 

Mr. Li has served as a director of the Shanghai Bar Association, Vice Chair of the China Committee of the International Law Section of the American Bar Association, and an executive committee member of the Asian American Bar Association of the Bay Area. He currently serves as a director of the Chinese American Lawyers Forum in the United States, the Seattle Chinese Bar Association and is a member of Washington State Bar Association and International Bar Association.

Arbitration, Teaching and Other Engagements

Mr. Li as an arbitrator of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission. He has also taught at the School of Law of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and lectured at law schools including Stanford University, Columbia University and University of Washington.
