Asia Legal Business (ALB) recently published its inaugural Hong Kong Rising Stars 2023 list. JunHe partner Ms. QIAO, Zheyuan (Jacqueline) and counsel Mr. WANG, Weiwei were honored on the list.

Asia Legal Business, an influential legal media company, recently published its inaugural list of the rising stars in the HKSAR. The list highlights lawyers under the age of 40 in Hong Kong who have demonstrated great potential in the industry while earning acclaim from their clients and colleagues, and recognizes 30 young lawyers who are growing into future leaders in the legal industry.

Ms. Qiao focuses on cryptocurrency, blockchain, Web3, the metaverse, and virtual assets derivatives. She has provided structuring and regulatory advice and prepared product and investment and financing documents for a wide range of cryptocurrency and NFT issuers, virtual assets trading exchanges (including Huobi and Hashkey), virtual assets financial service providers, digital assets management companies, Web3 funds and start-ups in Hong Kong and Singapore. She has fluency in the language of cryptocurrency, blockchain and Web 3 and has an in-depth understanding of technology. Prior to joining JunHe, Ms. Qiao worked at leading international law firms including Clifford Chance, Ashurst and Linklaters as well as a major investment bank (Soc Gen) as a structurer in the Greater China cross-asset structuring team.

“She is recognized by mainstream clients in the fintech and digital assets industry as the ‘go-to’ lawyer in Asia,” said one of her clients. Ms. Qiao has a broad understanding of blockchain technologies and digital assets and advises clients on their digital assets-related transactions in different sectors of the Fintech industry from a global regulatory perspective.

Mr. Wang focuses on investment funds and private equity investment and has over a decade of experience. He has represented numerous international and Chinese PE funds, hedge funds, securities companies and financial institutions in the design and formation of various fund and asset management products and has also advised a wide range of investment funds, asset managers and new economy companies in PE/VC investment transactions. In the field of investment funds, Mr. Wang has represented many international and domestic fund clients and asset managers in raising and forming USD funds, covering fund types such as PE/VC funds, hedge funds, real estate funds and M&A funds, and legal forms such as corporate funds, umbrella funds and limited partnerships.

Mr. Wang has solid experience in drafting comprehensive fund documents. “Mr. Wang and his team have provided us with valuable advice on fund structuring and a variety of fund-related issues,” one of his clients said. “We definitely hope to strengthen our cooperation with Mr. Wang and JunHe’s team in the future.” Prior to joining JunHe, Mr. Wang worked at several international law firms including Maples and Calder, Travers Thorp Alberga and DLA Piper.

This recognition is a valuable accolade for the talents of Ms. Qiao and Mr. Wang and spurs them on to further achievement and even greater responsibilities.
