Prior to joining JunHe in 2002, Mr. Shao practiced at a law office in Anhui Province from July 1988 to October 1993. During that time he represented both domestic and foreign clients in the areas of foreign direct investment, international trade and corporate financing. He was also involved in numerous major international arbitration cases.
From November 1995 to January 2001, Mr. Shao worked in the London, Hong Kong and China offices of an international British law firm as Chinese legal counsel and also at the Shanghai office of an international US law firm as a senior legal consultant. He was involved extensively in foreign direct investment, securities (including B-share, H-share, and red chip listings on China, Hong Kong, London, and US stock exchanges), venture capital, project finance, real estate matters, and represented a number of multinational companies in such work.
Mr. Shao joined JunHe in April 2002 as a partner. Mr. Shao has since acted as PRC counsel for either the issuer or the underwriter for IPOs and domestic or offshore listings of PRC conglomerates or high-growth companies. He has also represented various multinational corporations and investment funds on their investments and mergers and acquisitions in China. In recent years, Mr. Shao has represented PRC companies of PE funds in their offshore investments or cross-border M&A projects. In addition, Mr. Shao has been active in the practice areas of foreign direct investment, venture capital, PE investment, real estate, hotel management, infrastructure and project finance, stock option incentive plans, family wealth management, and commercial arbitration and litigation.
In recognition of his extensive experience in the capital markets, Mr. Shao was selected by Chambers Global as one of “The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business” (2007-2016). Asian Legal Business awards also named Mr. Shao among the “2014 ALB Client Choice Top 20 Lawyers in China.”
