Brian Yue is a partner at our Beijing office and specializes in foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, outbound investment, intellectual property and general corporate. He has extensive experiences in advising multinational clients on their investments in China, from market entry, incorporation of local presence, business permits and application, and the legal and regulatory matters that arise in connection with corporate management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, financing and the operation of their business activities in China. He also advises Chinese clients who wishes to expand their business offshore through establishing local entities or M&A with local firms, and is a contributor to the Outbound Investment Guidance Book for Chinese Investors.
Mr. Yue represents multinationals, foreign investment enterprises, and major Chinese State-owned and private companies across the wide spectrum of industrial sectors, including mining and energy, manufacturing, internet and telecommunication, agriculture, sports and entertainment. Clients that he assists include BHP Billiton, Vale, Eldorado Gold, Mercuria Energy, Citoren, Dassault Systèmes, Qualcomm, Dell, ChemChina, China Resources, China Nuclear Group, Shandong Gold and Legend Group.
He has a special emphasis on mining and energy, and all aspects of matters involved therein, including land title, exploration and mining permits, environment protection, safety production, State secrets on geographic data, and local community relationships, so as to help clients navigate China’s complex and sector-specific policy and regulatory landscape.
He also advises clients in the sports industry, including WTA, China Open and Volvo Ocean Race. He assists international companies to grant license to and seek sponsorship from local partners, and to acquire interests in Chinese sporting clubs and events.
He leads the writing and updating of Doing Business in China Guide for Lex Mundi, a world leading network of independent law firms, and also contributes to outbound investment guidance books organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC.
Before joining JunHe, Mr. Yue practiced with Schimitt Zur Hohe & Ferrante Intellectual Property Law Firm by providing comprehensive legal services regarding intellectual property rights to foreign enterprises, including dealing with domain name disputes, trademark infringement litigations and copyright affairs. He also worked with Butzel Long LLP and Alston Bird LLP as a visiting lawyer.
