Dr. Wang is qualified to practice before the Chinese Patent Office and the Chinese bar. He mainly focuses on patent enforcement/defense litigations (including patent invalidation administrative litigations) before the Supreme Court of the PRC and Chinese IP courts/IP tribunals. He is also frequently involved in providing legal opinions on patent prosecution strategy, technology licensing & transaction, FTO analysis, due diligence in IPO and M&A, as well as other legal matters including SEP & FRAND licensing analysis and evaluation. His technical fields primarily relate to electronics, telecommunications, computer software, semiconductors, mechanical engineering, medical devises, materials and energy. He was acting as an independent director of a Chinese listed company for 6 years.
Through more than 20 years’ working experience in IP field, Dr. Wang has accumulated profound capability and expertise in serving his clients in patent and technology-related IP protection and strategy. He has designed strategic patent management structures for many Fortune 500 companies doing business in China. In 2016, he was elected as one of the 2016 ALB China Top 15 IP Lawyers by Asia Legal Business. In 2017 and 2019, he was named as one of the strongly recommended patent attorneys/litigators in China by Legal 500 Asia Pacific. In 2016-2021, he was consecutively recognized as one of the “World's Leading Patent Professionals” by IAM Patent 1000. In 2020 and 2021, he was recognized by Who’s Who Legal as World Patent Lawyer and China Patent Lawyer. Dr. Wang graduated from China University of Mining and Technology, and received his Ph.D. degree in Electronics & Mechanical Engineering. In 2010, he received his EMBA degree (Executive Master of Business Administration) from CEIBS (China Europe International Business School), a renowned business school in China. He was also a visiting scholar in University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).
Dr. Wang is a registered patent attorney at the SIPO and a licensed attorney before the Chinese bar.
