Dr. Wang is qualified to practice before the Chinese Patent Office and the Chinese bar. He mainly focuses on patent enforcement/defense litigation (including patent invalidation administrative litigation) before all levels of the Chinese courts, including the Supreme Court of the PRC. He is also frequently involved in providing legal opinions on patent filing, prosecution, reexamination and other legal matters including FTO analysis related to Chinese patent practices. His technical fields primarily relate to electronics, telecommunications, computer software, semiconductors, mechanical engineering, medical devises, materials and new energy.
Dr. Wang has vast experience in serving his clients in patent procurement, patent dispute resolution, patent strategy and transactions in China. He has designed strategic patent management structures for many Fortune 500 companies doing business in China. He was a former Vice President of Beijing Intellectual Property Professionals Association, and is a Deputy Director of Mechanical Group under the All China Patent Attorneys Association. In 2012, he was named by the Beijing Intellectual Property Office as one of the “Top 10 Excellent Patent Attorneys” in Beijing. In 2016, he was recognized as one of the “World’s Leading Patent Professionals” by IAM Patent 1000, and was named as one of the strongly recommended patent attorneys in China by Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2017. In 2016, he was also elected as one of the 2016 ALB China Top 15 IP Lawyers China by Asia Legal Business.
He often speaks at domestic and international IP forums such as the IPO, Austin Law School of the University of Texas at Austin, Tsinghua University, and the 2014 IPTA (Australia) Annual Conference etc. He was a former author of the China IP & IT Service in patent section. In 2012, he was selected as one of the trial attorneys for the Chinese party at the mock trial in the 2012 Sino-US Intellectual Property High Level Seminar co-hosted by the Supreme Court of the PRC and US CAFC.
