Mr. Maochang Li is a partner of JunHe and mainly practices at our Beijing office.
Before returning to China, Mr. Li worked with international law firms in Boston and Tokyo for over six years. During this time, he assisted a number of international companies on matters of corporate finance, M&A, cross-border investment and dispute resolution.
Since his return to China in 1998, Mr. Li has represented numerous major domestic and multinational corporations and investment banks. He has particular experience in China's telecom, oil and automobile sectors. Mr. Li has also provided innovative advice and comprehensive services to many major hi-tech and IT companies, venture capitals and investment funds in the areas of corporate restructuring, financing and securities offering. His major recent representations include China Unicom in its Hong Kong listing and dissolution of the sophisticated "CCF" arrangements involving an over $2 billion settlement, Nissan-Dong Feng formation of a second largest joint automobile base in the PRC involving a nearly $2 billion joint venture and comprehensive restructuring of Dong Feng's major assets in almost all corporate forms of an over 40-year typical PRC state-owned enterprise, Haier/HK CCT in the overseas share swap deal with PRC assets nearly $1 billion.
In recognition of his innovative contributions and solutions to many of the problems that confronted his clients, Mr. Li was elected by Asia Law & Practice as a leading lawyer of Asia for 2000, 2001 and 2002 (AsiaLaw Leading Lawyer Survey 2000, 2001 and 2002).
Mr. Li has published numerous articles on China's legal renovation in prestigious law journals (e.g. Columbia Transnational Law Review an Asia Law & Practice).
