On June 12, 2017, a seminar entitled How Multinational Corporations Conduct Business in China under the Current Geopolitical Environment, jointly organized by JunHe Law Offices and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PWC), was successfully held in New York City (United States). Three partners in JunHe’s New York Office including ZHOU, Xiaolin, John Du, and HAO, Yong (Alex) were invited to attend the seminar as guest speakers. Other guest speakers attending the seminar also included Ms. Melissa Chia, Director of the Legal and Compliance Department at Tishman Speyer, and Mr. Brian Fox, Director of the Forensic Technology Services Department at PWC.
In recent years, changes in the geopolitical environment between China and the United States have brought new challenges to the multinational companies conducting business in China, especially with the Chinese government having strengthened its regulations on data security, anti-monopoly, anti-bribery and other compliance regulations and having revised its implementation regulations on the secrecy law. Meanwhile, the newly promulgated monetary policy also has certain impacts on multinational companies for conducting business in China in terms of its restrictions on monetary liquidity.
This seminar provided legal analysis and interpretations related to:
•The effect of China’s cybersecurity law and secrecy law on multinational companies conducting business in China;
•Laws and regulations on anti-bribery, anti-corruption and anti-monopoly; and
•The foreign exchange policy of China.
This seminar attracted legal counsel from a large number of multi-national corporations and received an excellent response from participants.
